Chaplain Laura P. Brown
Laura Brown is a native Houstonian and currently resides therein. Ever since she was a teenager, she has felt a tug on her heart to serve as a chaplain. However, she did not recognize this as God’s call on her life until the summer of 2015, when she enrolled in seminary at Liberty University Online to obtain a Masters of Divinity in Chaplaincy. Since her initial enrollment, the Lord has directed her to narrow her focus to military chaplaincy and she plans to graduate in December of 2019. She currently serves as a volunteer crisis chaplain for Harris County through Crisis Chaplaincy of America in order to provide spiritual support for the First Responders in the Houston Metropolitan area. She is also serving as a volunteer prison chaplain under the instruction of Chaplain-Pastor Lunetta Mitchell. In the near future, she will be serving with PACA by performing ride-a-longs with the police force of Houston, and plans to obtain further training in orderto provide spiritual support on the County level and the State level. Under the instruction of Pastor Dr. Ben Richardson II, Laura is also heralding God’s inspired Word for Unity Ministries on Tuesday evenings. In addition to the various aspects of crisis and military chaplaincy, Laura has a heart to serve the underprivileged and to help those who have suffered financial hardship and loss. Consequently, she has served at various times at TheFaith Center of Houston’s First Baptist Church and at The Source for Women, a non-profit holistic reproductive health center. Laura plans to serve as a military chaplain in the United States Army Reserve and to continue serving as a crisis chaplain for Houston, Harris County, and Texas.
